Market history

Clare is a market town on the north bank of the River Stour in Suffolk, situated 14 miles from Bury St Edmunds and 9 miles from Sudbury. Although the weekly Monday market ceased fifteen years ago a monthly 'Produce & Products' market was launched in 2017.

On the third Saturday of every month you will find approximately 20 stalls - most of them local to Clare. Products include homewares, jewellery, clothing and hot food with the produce ranging from seasonal fruit and vegetables, locally baked bread, homemade cakes and jams and a lovely selection of flowers and plants.

"Clare is such a friendly market, both locals and stallholders always have time for a chat. I love to walk around the market and then visit the wonderful array of independent businesses in the High Street."

Sarah, Market Customer

During the year the market place has several events particularly at Halloween and Christmas. For more information on what to do and see in Clare visit Bury St Edmunds and Beyond.
